Greek Villa rental - rent a holiday villa in Greece!

Greece has many islands dotted around its coastline, and they are a popular holiday destination. We visited the Ionian Islands, which are generally located to the west of the mainland. Firstly Corfu. Situated close to Greece's border with Albania, Corfu is the northernmost island, and is also the greenest thanks to receiving more rainfall than the ones a little further south. On the southern tip of the island you have the lively resort of Kavos - if you want a holiday full of partying, this is the destination you need. However much of the rest of the island is a lot quieter. Corfu town itself is well worth a day wandering around; especially the old town, and the two forts.

Another trip to try is a boat ride out to the islands of Paxos and Anti-Paxos. These small islands are a tiny paradise and the boat will take you into some of the beautiful coves around their cliffs.

We also visited Kefalonia, a little further south, and the largest of the islands. We stayed in Sami, a small, pretty port town on the western side, and where much of the filming for Captain Corelli's Mandalin took place. You can also get the ferry to Ithaca from here, but take a car. You should also take a visit to Myrtos Beach - one of the most photographed in all of Greece, especially from the road that winds up to the north of the island. The water is a striking bright blue-green here thanks to the clear shallow water and the sand.

The Greek Islands have a lot more to offer than you may think - certainly more than just beaches and nightclubs! Below are a few properties located on the islands we visited, but if you fancy else, then Villarenters have hundreds more properties on offer, so why not browse their site using the link on the right, and search for something specific?
