Italian Lakes Villa Rental

Lake Garda. Located in the north of Italy, Garda is one of the largest of the Italian Lakes. A little quieter than some of the others, Lake Garda is almost a lake of two halves. At the southern end it is wide with lots of bustling towns and resorts around the edge, but venture north and the lake narrows dramatically, with large mountains rising from each side. The scenery is spectacular at this end, and you can even take the revolving cable car up to Monte Baldo for a better view. We stayed in Limone, on the western side of the lake, and spent a lof of time travelling around the lake in a hire car. The area to the north is very pretty, with lots to see.

For example, you could visit the waterfalls at Varone (the "Cascata Varone") - spectacular waterfalls inside a cavern. Travel further north and wander the cobbled streets of the medieval village Canale di Tenno. The village, home to a kind of artists commune, is a maze of narrow passages and streets. Continue north and you will reach Lago di Tenno, a small lake with bright blue water nestling in amongst the mountains. This quiet lake is a great spot to unwind, and you can walk right around it in an hour or two. Back to Garda itself, you should also take a drive up the winding mountain roads from Limone to Tremosine - a cluster of tiny villages up atop the mountains. The twisting road is an adventure in itself, turning back on itself and crossing back over the bit you were just on like some giant piece of spaghetti that fell down to earth!

The Italian Lakes have a lot to offer, and Garda would be a great one to start out with. Below are a few properties located around the Garda area, but if you fancy elsewhere in Italy, then Villarenters have hundreds more properties on offer, so why not browse their site using the link on the right, and search for something specific?
