Stamford is a small town in the southwest cornerof Lincolnshire. I grew up there and although I don't live there any longer I still work there. Stamford attracts many tourists due to the majority of the town centre buildings being built of stone and some several hundred years old. Stamford also has 6 churches around the town centre making for a distinctive skyline from some angles. For visitors, the focal point is often around the river Welland. The river splits in two close to the centre of town, and the area between becomes the town meadows.

The meadows are a nice place to walk or relax, and are often used to hold concerts, a yearly fair, and more. Stamford's untouched nature has also attracted television and film productions, notably the BBC adaptation of Middlemarch, and more recently the film production of Pride and Prejudice. Relatively little work was needed to convert the town centre streets into realistic looking sets!
